Feeding Guide
Captive Birds
Use as the maintenance diet for captive lorikeets, lories & honeyeaters. Overfeeding can cause obesity, so feed the suggested amounts in the feeding guide. In hot weather provide fresh food in the morning and evening to prevent spoilage. Offer fresh water, fruit and blossom daily. For breeding birds increase feed by 30% and supplement with Insectivore Rearing Mix or Finch Soft Food.
Supplementing Wild Birds
Set up an elevated feeding station. Provide the prepared food in a shallow, glazed bowl. Ration daily feed to no more than 10mL per lorikeet or 5mL per honeyeater. Limit the frequency of food offered to reduce dependence on the food. Remove the bowl daily and thoroughly clean it. Disease transmission and the presence of predators can be a problem at feed stations. An alternative to direct feeding is to plant native shrubs and provide fresh water.

Also available as Wombaroo Lorikeet & Honeyeater Food in 300g, 1.5kg, 4.5kg & 9kg packs
Directions
To make 500mL: Half fill bottle with warm water and shake to disperse powder. Then fill bottle with more water and shake.
Store nectar in refrigerator for one day or freeze for upto one month. Freeze small portions in ice-cube trays and thaw-out as required. Do not re-freeze thawed nectar.
For added variety and flavour, make-up using half water and half fruit juice.
Feeding Captive Birds
Use Nectar Shake 'N' Make as a treat for captive lorikeets, lories & honeyeaters. Do not overfeed as this is wasteful and may cause obesity in captive birds. Birds should be offered fresh fruit and blossom daily.
Supplementing Wild Birds
Wombaroo Nectar Shake 'N' Make can be used as a supplement for attracting native birds into the garden. Set up an elevated feeding station on a pole or suspended from the branch of a tree. Provide the prepared food in a shallow, glazed bowl or feeding tube. Ration daily feed to no more than 10mL per lorikeet or 5mL per honeyeater. Always limit the amount of food offered to reduce dependence on the food. Remove the bowl after feeding and thoroughly clean it - disease transmission can be a problem at feed stations. Be aware that when you attract birds into your garden you may also be attracting predators, so steps may need to be taken to avoid this problem.
For larger volumes
If feeding larger volumes use the Wombaroo Lorikeet & Honeyeater Food, as this is available in more cost effective bulk sizes and made up at a higher concentration. This product also comes with suggested maintenance feed volumes per day.

330g, 1kg, 5kg & 20kg
Directions
Birds need to modify their feeding technique to eat crumbles. Initially they may disintegrate the food, but soon learn to consume the crumbles, including any fine powder produced.
Direct Change to Crumbles: Applies to cockatiels, companion parrots, quail & pigeons. Initially remove all seed and treats and provide only crumbles. If birds do not eat during the day, replace some of the seed before nightfall and try again the next day. If this is not successful, try gradually introducing crumbles.
Introducing Crumbles: For budgies, small birds and difficult-to-convert birds. Start with a 50:50 mix of crumbles and seed then slowly reduce the proportion of seed over a number of days.
Body weight and bird health should be monitored to ensure birds are consuming crumbles.
What to feed with Crumbles
Crumbles are a balanced diet and can represent up to 80% of the total diet. Offer a range of fruit & vegetables, small amounts of treats, along with fresh seeding grasses or sprouted seed.
Breeding Birds
Increase crumbles fed by up to 50% and, depending on species, supplement with Budgie Starter, Parrot Soft Food or Finch Soft Food.
