    Care Guidelines

    Aquarium Setup:
Fantails thrive in tanks of at least 40 liters (10 gallons) per fish with ample swimming space and good water flow. They prefer a setup with smooth gravel or sand substrate and decorations that won’t damage their delicate fins. Ensure the tank is free of sharp edges and provides open areas for swimming as well as hiding spots for comfort.

    Water Parameters:
Maintain a pH range of 6.5 to 7.5 and water temperatures between 18°C and 24°C. Fantails can tolerate cooler water but are sensitive to poor water quality. A high-quality filtration system and regular water changes are essential to keep them healthy and thriving.

    Diet:
Fantails are omnivorous and enjoy a varied diet. Provide a balanced diet of high-quality goldfish pellets or flakes, supplemented with occasional treats like bloodworms, brine shrimp, or blanched vegetables such as peas or zucchini. Avoid overfeeding to prevent bloating or digestive issues.

    Growth and Maintenance:
Fantails grow to an adult size of 15–20 cm and can live for over a decade with proper care. Regular tank maintenance, including vacuuming the substrate and cleaning filters, helps maintain a healthy environment. Monitor their fins for signs of damage or disease and treat promptly if needed.

    Compatibility:

Fantails are peaceful and do well in community tanks or ponds with other slow-moving, non-aggressive goldfish varieties such as Ryukins, Orandas, or Pearlscales. Avoid housing them with fast or nippy species that may stress or damage their delicate fins.
