    • Common Names: Veil Tail Betta, Siamese Fighting Fish
    • Origin: Captive-bred (wild relatives from Southeast Asia)

    • Maximum Size: 6–7 cm (2.5–3 inches)
    • Temperament: Semi-aggressive (males); Peaceful (females in community tanks)
    • Care Level: Easy

    Care Guidelines

    Aquarium Setup:
Veil Tail Bettas thrive in tanks of at least 10 liters with calm, warm water. Provide plenty of plants, driftwood, and decorations to create hiding spots and reduce stress. A lid or cover is recommended, as Bettas are jumpers. Avoid strong water currents, as their long fins make it difficult for them to navigate in high flow environments.

    Water Parameters:

    • Temperature: 24°C – 28°C
    • pH Range: 6.5 – 7.5
    • Water Hardness: Soft to moderately hard (5 – 15 dGH)

    Diet:
Veil Tail Bettas are carnivorous and thrive on a protein-rich diet. Provide high-quality Betta pellets or flakes, supplemented with live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp, bloodworms, and daphnia. Feed 1–2 times daily in small portions to prevent overfeeding.

    Behavior and Compatibility:
Male Veil Tail Bettas are territorial and best housed alone or with carefully selected tankmates like snails, shrimp, or small, peaceful fish that won’t nip their fins. Females can coexist in sororities (groups of 4–6 females) or in peaceful community tanks with species such as tetras and Corydoras.

    Growth and Maintenance:

Veil Tail Bettas grow up to 7 cm and are relatively low-maintenance. Regular water changes, monitoring water quality, and providing a stress-free environment are essential to maintain their health and prevent issues like fin rot. Their stunning fins and engaging personality make them a joy to keep.
