The Continuum advantage.

African Cichlid Elements•T mineral complex replenishes crucial minor and trace minerals lost to filtration and plants in African Cichlid and other Rift Lake fish habitats. It works especially well between water changes. It contains no heavy metals, phosphates, silicates, gluconates, or polygluconates.

Use in aquarium keeping.

First add Continuum Basis African Cichlid Salts, as directed on the package, to RO, DI or dechlorinated and purified tap water to provide a hard water environment replicating conditions in the Rift Lakes. Use each time you set up a new aquarium or when you do a water change. Next, use Continuum Basis Victoria / Malawi Cichlid Buffer or Basis Tanganyika Buffer to adjust the alkalinity and pH to the recommended value for the fish you are keeping. A general recommended alkalinity of 175 to 225 ppm or 10 to 12 dKH (German degrees of Carbonate Hardness) works well for mixed Africans. Continuum recommends that you use deionized water or water prepared by reverse osmosis for topping off. This will prevent shifting the mineral balance of the aquarium. Use this product, Continuum African Cichlid Elements•T to maintain trace mineral levels. Continuum recommends that you regularly test the pH and adjust with the appropriate Basis African Cichlid Buffer, as necessary.

Directions and protocol.

Shake well prior to use. Add 1 capful (5 ml) per 30 US-gallons (114 L) of African Cichlid aquarium water 1 to 2 times per week.

Expert use.

Dosing through use of a drip system is a superior method of addition. Do not mix with buffers or alkalinity supplements prior to addition. See our website for compatibility of supplements. It is not possible, with current test kits, to measure the exact dosage of African Cichlid Elements•T trace minerals to add, so to dose, simply add the above amount to the doser. In other words, add 1 capful to the amount of solution that the doser will add in 2 to 4 days per 30 US-gallons (114 L) of African Cichlid aquarium water.

The Continuum advantage.

Basis African Cichlid Salts is a high quality, multi-component blended true hardness system, designed to add major, minor and trace minerals in proper ratios for rift lake fishes. It also works well for other freshwater fishes originating in hardwater environments. Basis African Cichlid Salts is not table salt, but a specially formulated blend of critical major minerals, together with minor and trace minerals, including iodine that are necessary for the health and spawning of rift lake cichlids. It also has special ingredients that lessen aggression!

Use in aquarium keeping.

First adjust the total hardness (dGH) of your rift lake aquarium with this product. It will not increase the pH or alkalinity (i.e. KH or carbonate hardness) of the aquarium, so it is necessary to add Basis African Cichlid Buffer after properly adjusting total hardness (dGH) using this product. For maximum results, use Continuum Cichlid Elements•T periodically, and after every water change, to replenish trace and minor minerals used up by natural aquatic processes, filtration and inhabitants.

Directions and protocol.

Dissolve 5-20 grams, about 1-4 teaspoons of product in 8 oz. ( 236 ml ) purified water for each 10 gallons (38 L) aquarium capacity, and add per day until the desired ppm or dGH are reached. When setting up a new aquarium, add as necessary to reach the desired dGH or ppm. For water changes, adjust prior to addition to the aquarium. For best results, use water purified by Reverse Osmosis or Deionization. Dechlorinated tap water can also be used, but this will negatively affect the final result no matter what brand of cichlid salts are used.

Recommended values:

For Lake Tanganyika conditions adjust the water to between 350 and 400 ppm general hardness (12 to 14 German degrees of total hardness, Gesamtehaerte or dGH). For Lake Malawi conditions adjust the water to about 200 ppm general hardness (7 dGH). For Lake Victoria conditions, adjust the water to about 150 ppm general hardness (5 dGH). Once recommended hardness is achieved, adjust the carbonate hardness or alkalinity (KH) using Basis African Cichlid Buffer according to the directions on that product.

Caution: Keep out of reach of children. Not for human consumption. Contains mineral salts, if ingested drink plenty of water, consult your medical practitioner. If in eyes flush with water for 15 minutes, if redness continues, consult your medical practitioner. If on skin flush with water.

Red Sea DipX is a highly effective dip for safely introducing new corals and live rocks to your aquarium.

A simple 15-minute bath in DipX before placing a new coral in the aquarium will drive away unwanted “hitchhikers”, thereby maintaining the safety of your reef.

New corals often come with unwanted “hitchhikers” hidden deep inside the corals’ crevices. These various tiny creatures are usually invisible to the naked eye, and once in the aquarium, they can migrate to other corals and damage your delicate reef eco-system.

Over the years, reef hobbyists have used generic baths solutions such as fresh water, Iodine, and even household disinfectants, all of which repel some of the hitchhikers, but not all of them.

For the past few years, we have been cultivating tanks with infested corals and comparing a wide range of commercially available dips and other repelling ingredients, examining both their effectiveness and their overall safety for the corals. 

The result is DipX – a unique blend of essential oils, without inorganic disinfectants. Our tests have shown that DipX is completely safe for all kinds of corals and more effective than any other solution we tested. 

Corals that were bathed in DipX still repelled unwanted “hitchhikers”, even though they were previously dipped in other solutions  On the other hand, corals that were dipped in other solutions after they were bathed in DipX did not repel anything. 

Why corals need to be dipped

There are no viable methods for removing specific opportunistic dwellers from an established reef aquarium.

While not all of the incidental hitchhikers are necessarily bad for an artificial reef, some of them quickly become unwelcome guests and therefore it is highly recommended to go with a “better safe than sorry” policy and try to prevent them from getting in. If, however they are already in the system, affected corals and rocks will need to be removed and dealt with one at a time.

Carefully inspecting corals should be part of the regular husbandry routine for a reef aquarium so that any signs of soft tissue damage or discoloration can be identified and investigated as soon as possible. Early detection of the presence of hitchhikers is the most effective way of preventing an uncontrolled outbreak that can potentially harm the entire reef.

Aquasonic Bactonex assists in the prevention of bacterial, fungal and protozoal (Velvet, whitespot, chilodonella, Trichodina & Trichodinella) infections in fresh and salt water fish.

When to Use:

• When water is changed.
• When new fish are added and in quarantine aquariums.
• When fish show signs of listlessness or are off feed.

Directions for Use:

Not to be used on fish intended for human consumption. Ensure aquarium water is well aerated during treatment. Do not use activated carbon in the filtration system during treatment as this will remove the product from the aquarium water. If sub-gravel filtration is being used, slow down the flow rates during treatment. This product contains a dye which will stain if spilled.

Dose Rate:

Add 10mL per 40 litres of aquarium water. Repeat after 5 days if necessary. DO NOT OVERDOSE. If improvement does not occur, consult your veterinarian or aquarium dealer.
TO GIVE NUMBER OF LITRES: To calculate approximate tank capacity multiply length x width x water level height (all in cms) and divide by 1000 for litres.

Active constituents:

Each mL of solution contains: 1.66mg Aminacrine hydrochloride and 0.025mg Methylene blue.

Storage:

Store below 30C (Room Temperature).

Disposal:

Dispose of empty container by wrapping in paper and placing in garbage.

Aquasonic Paragone tablets aid in the control of most external fish parasites including Fish lice (argulus spp), Gill Flukes (Ergasilus spp) and Anchor worms (Lernea spp).

Directions for Use:

Not to be used on fish intended for human consumption. Fish rubbing and scratching on objects is indicative of parasitic infestations. Para-Gone tablets aid in the control of most external fish parasites including: Fish lice (Argulus spp), Skin & Gill Flakes (Ergasilus spp), and Anchor Worms (Lernaea spp) in fresh and saltwater aquariums. Does not aid in the treatment of bacterial and viral infections.

Do Not Overdose:

Do not treat marine invertebrates (shellfish & anemones). Remove from aquaria and wait 5 days after last treatment before returning to aquaria.
*Para-Gone treatment may adversely affect species of Plecostomus and Bristle Nose type catfish, as well as Metynnis (Silver Dollar type fish).

Dosage and Administration:

Use 1 tablet per 40 litres of aquarium water. For Fish Lice (Argulus spp) and Gill Flukes (Ergasilus spp) repeat the treatment after 7 days until all signs of parasitic infection are eradicated. During treatment it is advisable to keep the temperature of the aquarium water at 25C and to maintain the pH between 6 and 7. For Anchor Worms (Lernea spp) foloow the above treatment regime but repeat treatments at 5 day intervals until all adults are killed. A colder water 20C temperature allows treatment to be repeated at 12 day intervals.

Pre-dissolve tablets in a disposable cup before addition to aquarium water. Refer to disposal statemetn for cup after use. NOTE: A small residue of insoluble matter will be eveident after dissolving tablets. This residue is harmless to fish.

Aquasonic Oodonex assists in the treatment of oodinium and whitespot in marine aquarium fish. Do not use with corals and invertebrates.
