Description

Adolfoi Cory Catfish (Corydoras adolfoi)

The Adolfoi Cory Catfish is a peaceful bottom-dwelling scavenger native to the tributaries of the Rio Negro and Rio Uaupes in South America. This species is characterized by its pale body color with distinctive black stripes: one along the back and another across the eyes.

Product Details:

  • Species: Corydoras adolfoi
  • Common Names: Adolfoi Cory, Orange Burst Cory
  • Origin: South America
  • Diet: Omnivorous
  • pH Range: 6.8 – 7.2
  • Temperature: 24°C – 28°C
  • Breeding Type: Egg Layer
  • Maximum Size: Approximately 6.5 cm
  • Available Sizes: 2-3 cm, 4-5 cm

Care Guidelines:

  • Aquarium Setup: Provide a well-planted aquarium with plenty of hiding places to offer relief from light. A smooth sand or fine gravel substrate is essential to prevent damage to their sensitive barbels. Maintaining a school of six or more individuals is ideal for their social well-being.

  • Feeding: As omnivores, Adolfoi Corys thrive on a varied diet that includes high-quality flake and pellet foods, as well as live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp and worms. Regularly offering a diverse diet will ensure optimal health and coloration.

  • Breeding: Breeding can be achieved by maintaining a group of the same species and allowing natural pairing. Success has been noted in environments with lower water levels and a hardness (dH) below 6. After spawning, it's advisable to remove the adults to prevent egg predation. Fry can be fed a variety of finely crushed dried foods and baby brine shrimp.
