Anubias barteri, is a widely favoured aquatic plant is a staple in various aquariums. It thrives effortlessly in both aquariums and terrariums, whether submerged or emersed, showcasing slightly elongated stems compared to its counterpart, Anubias nana.
While resembling Anubias nana in shape and characteristics, this versatile plant is ideal for placement in the midground and background, with leaves capable of reaching lengths of up to 3 inches.
Similar to other Anubias varieties, this particular species is a flowering plant that flourishes when its rhizome is securely attached to a solid surface such as wood or stones. With low to medium light requirements, it benefits from regular fertilisation, and although CO2 supplementation is not obligatory, it can enhance growth and fortify leaf structure. Given its slow growth, caution is advised when placing it under high lighting to prevent susceptibility to algae formation on the leaves.
Propagation is straightforward; simply cut or separate the rhizomes for replanting, ensuring they remain above the substrate to prevent potential rot.
