    Product Details

    • Species: Pterophyllum scalare
    • Common Names: Koi Angelfish
    • Origin: South America (Amazon Basin)
    • Diet: Omnivore
    • Maximum Size: 15 cm (6 inches)
    • Temperament: Semi-peaceful
    • Care Level: Moderate

    Care Guidelines

    Aquarium Setup:
Koi Angelfish thrive in tall tanks with at least 100 liters (25 gallons) of capacity. Provide plenty of swimming space along with plants, driftwood, and hiding spots to make them feel secure. A sandy or fine gravel substrate works best.

    Water Parameters:

    • Temperature: 24°C – 28°C (75°F – 82°F)
    • pH Range: 6.5 – 7.5
    • Water Hardness: Soft to moderately hard (3–12 dGH)

    Diet:
Koi Angelfish are omnivores and should be fed a varied diet, including high-quality flakes, pellets, frozen or live foods like bloodworms, brine shrimp, and daphnia. Blanched vegetables such as spinach and zucchini can also be offered occasionally.

    Behavior and Compatibility:
Angelfish are semi-peaceful but can become territorial, especially during breeding. They do well in community tanks with other peaceful fish like tetras, gouramis, and corydoras catfish. Avoid housing them with fin-nipping species or small fish that may be seen as prey.

    Growth and Maintenance:

Koi Angelfish grow up to 15 cm (6 inches) and require regular tank maintenance, including weekly water changes and stable water conditions. A good filtration system is essential to keep their environment clean.
