While we make every effort to ensure that our online stock levels are accurate and up to date, some products—particularly those that are perishable or subject to daily changes—may vary in availability. This includes livestock, fish, corals, and both fresh and frozen foods. Due to the nature of these items and their dependence on factors such as shipment schedules, health status, and in-store demand, availability can change rapidly and may not always be reflected in real time on our website.
To avoid disappointment, we strongly encourage customers to confirm the availability of these products before placing an order or visiting In-Store. You can do this easily by using the "Ask a Question" tab on the product page or by calling us directly on 0460 961 696 .

The Marble Bristlenose Catfish adds a bold twist to aquarium clean-up duty, combining all the charm and hardiness of the classic Bristlenose with a stunning marbled pattern. Sporting a mottled mix of black, gold, and brown across a flattened body, this bottom-dwelling catfish is a standout both in looks and utility—perfect for planted or community freshwater tanks.
Like all Bristlenose varieties, it stays small, eats algae, and grows quirky tentacle-like bristles on its snout—especially in males.
Aquarium Setup:
Ideal for tanks 70 litres and up. Provide plenty of hiding spaces such as driftwood, caves, and plants to mimic natural conditions and reduce stress. These nocturnal grazers prefer shaded areas and will thrive in aquariums with stable parameters and low to moderate flow.
Water Parameters:
Temperature: 22–28°C
pH: 6.5–7.5
Hardness: 4–15 dGH
Growth and Maintenance:
Slow growers with a lifespan of up to 5–10 years in a well-maintained aquarium. Marbled Bristlenose are efficient algae-eaters but require supplementation with plant matter and fibre-rich foods. Multiple individuals can be housed together if ample space and cover are provided—limit to one male unless kept in a larger tank.
Care Tips:
✔ Feed a balanced, veggie-rich diet to prevent bloat
✔ Driftwood helps with digestion and provides shelter
✔ Avoid sharp décor—these fish like to wedge into tight spaces
✔ Excellent for algae control in peaceful community tanks
✔ Regular water changes promote long-term health
Compatibility:
Works well with peaceful fish such as tetras, guppies, rasboras, dwarf cichlids, and loaches. Avoid keeping with aggressive bottom-dwellers or fin-nippers. Completely safe for planted aquariums.
Availability:
Readily available in the aquarium trade and gaining popularity due to its attractive marbling and manageable size. All individuals are captive-bred.
